I’m Zarla.

I’m a mother, design strategist, yogi, and artist with a love for creativity and community. Living on the South Shore, I saw a need for high-quality art supply retailers and creative spaces that cater to the diverse artistic talents of our area. I also know that many of my neighbors and peers - artists themselves - have evolved their styles, mediums and interests, often resulting in many unused art supplies in their homes.

There are already so many wonderful community centers and spaces on the South Shore, I wanted to add to our options with The Spare Studio. Our goal with The Spare Studio is to keep art supplies and materials in active use (through mindful purchasing) and out of landfills (through creative reuse and second-hand retail).

My sources of inspiration for The Spare Studio include Art Parts Boulder, The Scrappy Elephant, The Portland Children’s Museum, and St Louis Art Supply.
